In 2022, six young African filmmakers won a short film competition launched by UNESCO and Netflix on the theme of "African folk tales reinvented."
The goal? To promote local talent and finance creativity by allocating a budget for the creation of works. And with good reason: beyond television series, Africa, and particularly the French-speaking region, is experiencing a real boom in creativity and production, driven by leading countries such as Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire.
From Dakar to Abidjan, production is accelerating, supported by long-standing broadcasters and distributors. Events are also multiplying to give visibility to talent and create international bridges.
Among these events, the Clap Ivoire festival dedicated to short films will once again be held in Abidjan from September 4 to 9, 2023.
For this 23rd edition, young filmmakers are invited to apply now by submitting their projects before June 30. As a reminder, Clap Ivoire is a short film competition and festival that brings together young filmmakers from the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) region to compete in the fiction and documentary categories.
