Organized by the Chinese company StarTimes, the 6th seminar on the development of digital television in Africa is currently taking place in Beijing. Several hundred television experts are discussing various aspects of the future of television on the African continent, including digitization.
The 6th Seminar on Digital Television Development in Africa has attracted more than 300 representatives from 39 African countries. This year, the seminar is focusing on the transition to digital television.
In 2006, all African countries committed to switching off their analog transmitters and completing their transition to digital terrestrial television by June 17, 2015. But in reality, out of 54 African countries, only Tanzania and Mauritius completed the transition before that date. Today, the other countries are gradually catching up in this area.
