Spotify expands into two new French-speaking African countries

On the continent, as in the rest of the world, the digital revolution has completely transformed the music industry. New consumption patterns are emerging and online music platforms are developing. Musical richness, a young population, high mobile penetration rates, and a proliferation of initiatives to democratize internet access are all opportunities for the development of music streaming.

After announcing the launch of its activities in South Africa in 2018 and in 40 African countries in 2021, thereby formalizing its entry into French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa, Spotify is expanding in the DRC and Congo Brazzaville.

Across all of these new markets, the platform will make its music catalog available, enriched with new content thanks to collaborations with local players.
