SICA 2025: Abidjan at the heart of Africa's audiovisual ambitions

The third edition of the Abidjan International Audiovisual Content Exhibition (SICA) will be held from June 26 to 28, 2025, at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire, consolidating Côte d'Ivoire's position as a hub for the African creative industry. Under the theme "Digital sovereignty and storytelling exports: building a competitive and globalized African audiovisual market," this event aims to position Côte d'Ivoire as a key player in content production and distribution across the continent.

Initiated by the Ivorian government and led by the Ministry of Communication, SICA 2025 responds to a need: to structure and develop an industry that is still fragmented.

With more than 300 professionals (producers, distributors, investors), 100 speakers, 25 countries represented, and 30 sponsors, the show aims to catalyze synergies between local creativity and global market demands.

Amadou Coulibaly, Minister of Communication, emphasizes the need for "narrative sovereignty": "Our stories must be told by ourselves, with our sensibilities and our creative genius." This edition comes amid the rise of streaming platforms and growing demand for authentic African content.

SICA 2025 will be rolled out around three main areas:

Professional meetings: Round tables on financing, workshops on immersive technologies (virtual reality, AI), and multi-platform distribution strategies.

Pilot screenings: Screenings dedicated to new series, documentaries, and films, with a focus on trans-African co-productions.

Networking and exhibitions: A space dedicated to technology startups and equipment manufacturers, highlighting solutions tailored to local realities.

Finally, June 28 will be devoted—as in the last edition—to discovering Ivorian tourist sites suitable for filming, in order to highlight the country's potential as a filming location for the film industry.

SICA 2025 is part of a pan-African initiative, with confirmed participation from delegations from Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, and Kenya. It aims to create an integrated market capable of competing with giants such as Nollywood and Netflix.

By combining strategic thinking, technological demonstrations, and networking, it offers a unique setting for transforming projects into concrete opportunities.
