RFI Challenge App Africa – 2019 Edition

"Urban Development and Smart Cities"

With the program "7 Billion Neighbors"

RFI is launching the fourth edition of the "RFI Challenge App Afrique" competition, which this year aims to promote the integration of new technologies in the field of urban development and smart cities in French-speaking Africa. Open to all Africans and young companies on the continent, this edition rewards digital innovations (websites, applications, SMS services, etc.) that improve urban services and citizens' quality of life.

Applications are open until August 31, 2019, on the dedicated website: appafrique.rfi.fr
The three finalists will be invited to present their projects in December in Dakar, Senegal, to a jury of professionals chaired by Emmanuelle Bastide, who will showcase them in a special program broadcast from the Senegalese capital. The winner will receive funding to develop their project.

Through this competition, RFI aims to encourage and support innovation by stimulating and supporting young African companies and developers. ENGIE AFRICA, Société Générale, Africa Global Recycling, Schneider Electric, and African incubators for innovative companies are partners in the initiative.

The first three editions focused on the fields of health (2016), girls' education (2017), and sustainable development (2018).
