Patrice Mostepe appointed new president of the Confederation of African Football

At the 43rd General Assembly held on March 12 in Rabat, Patrice Motsepe was elected as the new president of the Confederation of African Football.

Aged 59, Patrice Motsepe is a South African businessman. He has been president of the famous South African club Mamelodi Sundowns for 20 years. At the head of CAF, he becomes the seventh president elected for a four-year term.

Upon his appointment, the new president also unveiled his ambitions for the development of African football and the image of a "new CAF":

"The face of African football will never be the same again, and I am very excited. It is urgent to produce results. We must ensure that African football is not only competitive, but also a global success. Africa spends millions of dollars every year to pay for television rights and watch matches outside Africa. We need to make our own products."
