Partnership between CANAL+ and CAF for the training of young sports journalists

CAF and CANAL+ International have entered into a three-year strategic partnership aimed at developing training programs for young African talent in the field of sports journalism as part of the CANAL+ University initiative.

This partnership, signed by CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba and Jacques Dupuy, President of CANAL+ International, aims to identify and train future Young Reporters who will be integrated into the African School Football Championship Program.

On this occasion, CANAL+ made three commitments

  1. The pay-TV channel has committed to sending a journalist to host the Young Reporters workshops during the three phases of each edition of the U15 AFCON: the domestic phase (national championship), the regional phase (the six CAF regional zones), and the final tournament.
  2. C+ is also committed to monitoring four young people (two girls and two boys) each year. The winners will be integrated into longer training programs, such as CANAL+ University in countries where they are organized, and may be called upon to participate in major competitions, notably the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
  3. This program will be free and open to all via a call for applications on social media, including the official pages of CAF and Canal+ African School Program.
