Beyond FESPACO, the continent's premier film festival, Burkina Faso is hosting its first international festival dedicated to short films: the Ouaga Court Festival.
"There are very few venues for screening short films on the African continent, whereas elsewhere in the world there are high-quality, well-known festivals dedicated to this form of filmmaking," says the organizing team, led by Irène Tassembédo.
That's why they decided to create the International Short Film Festival called "Ouaga Côté Court," with the first edition happening November 19-26, 2022, in Ouagadougou.
"Ouaga Côté Court aims to become a leading festival on a continental and global level, dedicated to short films in all their diversity, welcoming creators from around the world and opening up distribution of their films on the African continent and beyond."
In anticipation of the event, a call for films has been launched. Directors of short fiction, animated, or documentary films from around the world are invited to submit their works between August 1 and 31, 2022.
