New World TV acquires FA Cup rights in sub-Saharan Africa

The Togolese television group New World TV has announced that it has secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the FA Cup, England's prestigious soccer competition, for 17 African countries. This acquisition was made possible thanks to an agreement with International Media Group (IMG), which holds the broadcasting rights for the competition. The 17 countries concerned are Benin, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, the Seychelles, and Togo. The agreement is valid for the next editions of the FA Cup and provides for the competition to be broadcast in French.

With an increasing presence in sports competitions in Africa, New World TV is strengthening its catalog with this acquisition, becoming an increasingly formidable competitor for pay-TV operators on the continent in terms of sports broadcasting. Nimonka Kolani, CEO of New World TV, said: "We are delighted to add this prestigious competition to our sports offering, which is a major asset for our group. We want all Africans to have access to quality content at affordable prices, and this agreement allows us to reach several million viewers."
