Côte Ouest Audiovisuel, which has long supported the emergence of young filmmakers in French-speaking Africa, organized "MAKE IT SHORT: The Best Amateur Filmmaker Competition in French-speaking Africa," a contest to bring out new talent in nine countries in the region (Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Gabon, Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo).
In each country, three winners were selected, and the 27 amateur videographers chosen will be able to pit their skills against those of established videographers in a regional final organized in partnership with TV5 Monde. The results will be announced on March 17, 2023.
Each contestant must submit a web series comprising at least six episodes, each lasting between one and 11 minutes.
The criteria that the jury will use to evaluate the works in competition are:
– Editorial relevance (in terms of the interests of the general population of French-speaking Africa)
– Creativity
– Artistic quality
– Technical quality
The winner of the Jury Prize will receive a prize of 1,500,000 CFA francs.
The Audience Award, worth 1,000,000 CFA francs, will be won by the candidate whose work receives the most likes after being posted on the Make it short Facebook page, which already has more than 165,000 followers
Internet users who vote for the work that wins the Audience Award will also be rewarded: five of them will be chosen at random and will each receive 100,000 CFA francs.
