The film and audiovisual industry in Côte d'Ivoire is booming, with a wealth of cultural and artistic talent just waiting to be discovered. And with good reason, as successful productions are multiplying and the number of movie theaters is increasing with the recent opening of a Pathé multiplex. To support the development of this promising industry, on April 24, the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie launched a new initiative: the Côte d'Ivoire Film Commission.
Aware that Côte d'Ivoire is at a turning point for the film industry, the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Françoise Remarck, has committed to supporting the growth and structuring of the film sector and the professionals who work in it on a daily basis.
Housed within the National Film Office of Côte d'Ivoire (ONAC-CI), the commission's main missions are to welcome and support foreign productions and to promote the country as a film destination.
Beyond its missions, this commission is also based on a new collaboration with the French Embassy on the "Terre de Cinéma" project to present Côte d'Ivoire as a diverse filming location that is attractive to directors from around the world. To this end, François Remarck has also unveiled his ambition to create and promote a brand dedicated to Ivorian cinema.
"This brand, called 'Côte d'Ivoire Cinéma', will be gradually developed through their initiatives. The first of these new actions consists of setting up a service bearing the same name, Côte d'Ivoire Cinéma," she said.
