African humor has found its stage with "La relève du rire!" (The Next Generation of Comedy!). In a new series of 16 podcasts, Roukiata Ouedraogo takes listeners on a weekly journey to the heart of the fifth edition of "Mon Premier Montreux by CastelBeer," a unique competition that showcases the new generation of comedians in 13 cities across French-speaking Africa. Comedians from 10 countries take to the stage to deliver their best punchlines and perform their most powerful sketches.
In each episode, available every Tuesday from March 18 to early July, the author and actress showcases the best new voices in African comedy, selected from more than 350 candidates by "Mon premier Montreux by CastelBeer." RFI shares their journey and their progress through the auditions and excerpts from their performances, right up to the final stages, which will be held in Cotonou (semi-finals) and Douala (final). From Dakar to Abidjan, via Libreville, Ouagadougou and Pointe-Noire… Who will be the future star of African stand-up comedy?
