Ivory Coast: Pathé Gaumont multiplex cinema set to open by 2023

As we announced at the beginning of the year, the Pathé Gaumont group is accelerating its development in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.

The goal is to open a multiplex in Dakar and a second one in Abidjan.

Things are taking shape in Côte d'Ivoire. On social media, SETAO, a subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International, announced the signing on September 1 of a contract for the construction of the multiplex in Abidjan. The delivery date is scheduled for June 2023.

The Ivorian economic capital will soon be home to a 6-screen multiplex cinema on three levels. This should rekindle the Ivorian population's enthusiasm for the seventh art, provided that ticket prices allow access for as many people as possible.

It should be noted that the group has already begun work on a multiplex in Dakar. Named "Le Mermoz," the seven-screen, 1,407-seat multiplex is scheduled to open by the end of the year.

In an interview with Adweknow, Frédéric Godfroid, Director of African Operations for Pathé Gaumont, said, "This venture is a gamble, but we believe in it. Of course, if we succeed in Dakar and Abidjan, which are two 'spearhead' cities in West Africa, we will consider other development opportunities in other countries." "

These two projects are part of Pathé's strong growth on the African continent.
