According to Omedia, which tracks gross TV advertising investment in Senegal on a monthly basis, advertising spending fell by 15.3% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020.
March was particularly affected, with a 26.5% decrease compared to March 2020. This is the lowest level reached by IPTV in Senegal since January 2019 (589,096,000 CFA francs).
It should be noted that two TV channels, WALF TV and SENTV, were suspended for 72 hours starting on March 4 due to their coverage of events that affected the country.
On the advertising side, several brands entered the TOP 10 advertisers of the month: Flecha tea, "Super Correcteur" anti-blemish and blackhead products, and SCI SBS, which markets real estate programs.
