Interview with Mariam Coulibaly, Director of Fréquence 2

Radio Côte d’Ivoire, headed by Saly SILUE KONATE (interview available here), and Fréquence 2, headed by Mariam COULIBALY
, are two radio stations belonging to Radio Télévision Ivoirienne.
These two stations cover the entire country and broadcast on FM 24 hours a day. They have adopted complementary positioning and occupy sixth and third place respectively in the TOP audience ratings in Côte d'Ivoire.

As we head into fall 2022, Saly SILUE KONATE (read the interview here) and Mariam COULIBALY
present their stations, their successes, and their new programming.

What is FREQUENCE 2's positioning?

FREQUENCE 2 is a themed radio station focused on entertainment. We make it a point of honor to offer more than 60% music, comedy, and games.

Who is your
target audience?

Young people in particular, although we recognize that larger segments of the population identify with our content and follow us assiduously.

How do you view the recent evolution of your station?
We are quite satisfied with the evolution of FREQUENCE 2 in terms of the qualitative leap it has made over the last ten years. From the twists and turns of the rankings, we have managed to propel ourselves into the top three most listened-to radio stations in Côte d'Ivoire, and we intend to continue our momentum: listening to the expectations of listeners and internet users while making the radio useful and offering a distinctive service.
What are its flagship programs?

During the

week, the main productions are:
The morning show called "Le p'tit dej"
(Breakfast
), which we serve up with enthusiasm and freshness, a real boost for our listeners, who find useful information there.
The daily retro segment with "La Parade des Hits" (The Hit Parade).
"Toute la Ville en Parle" (The Whole Town is Talking About It), our debate on social issues.
"Place Publique" (Public Square), the agora where infotainment reigns.
Success stories and young talent are celebrated in "Un Truc 2 Ouf" (Something Cool) and "La Radio Vous Écoute" (The Radio Listens to You), our evening confidence break.
On weekends, we highlight specialized music, our quiz "La Côte d'Ivoire en questions" (Ivory Coast in Questions), and a program like "FREQUENCE 2 DANS MON ECOLE" (FREQUENCY 2 IN MY SCHOOL), in which we promote the school and the role models who have come out of it.

Have you launched any new programs for the 2022 season?
Our schedule continues to be tried and tested, and we are making our presence felt at major audience crossroads. We are also working hard to improve our content. For this season, for example, we have sections such as "Le booster," where we transform successful role models into coaches for young people, and "La mention spéciale," which allows listeners to thank their benefactors. These are just a few of the innovations aimed at giving our listeners and internet users a voice.
