Franck Kacou succeeds Moussa Soumbounou as General Manager of the Company in charge of West Africa.
A 34-year-old Franco-Ivorian born in Abidjan, Franck Kacou began his career as a singer-songwriter and joined Universal Music Africa as Artistic Director when the company was founded in 2016, before being promoted to Director of Label and Publishing.
It should be noted that Universal Music Group, the world leader in the music industry, announced in 2018 the creation of a new division of the group dedicated to label activities in French-speaking Africa.
The Universal group chose to set up the offices for this new division, headed by Moussa Soumbounou as Managing Director, in the Ivorian economic capital, Abidjan.
He was in charge of the label's activities in 22 African countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa), Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Chad, and Togo.
Franck Kacou is therefore resuming his activities.
