France Médias Monde (FMM) confirms its strategic position among the most influential international media outlets, despite a global environment marked by geopolitical crises and budgetary constraints. Meeting on May 6, 2025, under the chairmanship of Marie-Christine Saragosse, the Board of Directors of France Médias Monde (FMM) praised the group's performance, which has maintained strong growth and impact, particularly on the African continent, where its RFI and France 24 stations play a major role in providing access to free and diverse information.
The group, which broadcasts in 21 languages, reached an average of 254 million contacts per week through its television channels, radio stations, and digital platforms. This success comes despite the persistence of censorship measures in several countries, notably Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Russia, which affect the distribution of its media.
France Médias Monde is continuing its strategy of building closer ties with African audiences by strengthening its Dakar hub, which will see increased broadcasting of content in African languages on RFI and the launch of a pan-African digital offering aimed at young people. FMM also plans to strengthen France 24's French-language offering for Africa.
France 24 continues to grow, with 574 million households connected (+7.7% compared to 2023), while RFI relies on a network of 1,820 partner radio stations (+8.2%). Digital remains a strategic pillar: the group recorded 3.8 billion videos and audio files consumed in 2024, and its presence on social media has surpassed 125 million subscribers.
In 2024, France Médias Monde received public funding of €271.2 million, which was reduced by €3.6 million due to the elimination, during the year, of most of the appropriations related to the "transformation program." Despite this reduction, FMM was able to continue its investments by drawing on its own funds. This was an exceptional measure for a group whose budget remains well below that of its international competitors and whose expenses are more than 95% fixed.
