France 24 broadcast unencrypted on digital terrestrial television in Kinshasa

The Ministry of Communication and Media of the Democratic Republic of Congo has granted France 24 a license to broadcast unencrypted on the Digital Terrestrial Television network in Kinshasa, the country's capital and Africa's third largest city with 15 million inhabitants. France 24's DTT broadcasts will gradually be extended to the cities of Lubumbashi, Kisangani, Goma, Bukavu, Matadi, and Moanda, serving a total audience of 22 million inhabitants.

Effective March 20, International Francophonie Day, France 24's DTT broadcast in Kinshasa will allow equipped households to access the channel on channel 21.

The broadcast of France 24 on DTT in the DRC will enable the channel to continue its development in Africa. The channel is now available in French or English on DTT in 38 countries and free of charge in Kenya, Rwanda, Botswana, Mauritius, and the Comoros.

Available on various cable and satellite packages across the country, France 24 is now available in 39% of Congolese TV households.

As the leading international news channel in the DRC, France 24 attracts 44.5% of viewers in Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, and Bukavu every week.
