The Canal+ group and the Beninese government have just announced the upcoming launch of A+ Benin, a new channel that will be broadcast on DTT and on CANAL+ packages.
This channel will offer "a range of television programs focusing on entertainment, tourism promotion, and cultural outreach" and aims to strengthen the local audiovisual landscape.
Despite numerous government decisions (creation of Bénin Diffusion, decoder prices, the switch-off of analog broadcasting, etc.), DTT has not really taken off in Benin.
The 15 channels broadcast on DTT do not seem to satisfy local demand, which is why the Beninese government and the Canal+ International group have decided to join forces to create this new television channel.
Like A+ Ivoire, which has boosted local production, A+ Benin could better satisfy viewers by offering programs designed and produced in Benin.
