FESPACO, a veritable showcase for African creativity for over 55 years, will celebrate its 29th edition from February 22 to March 1, 2025, and has just unveiled its visual for the 2025 edition.

This visual, designed by director Gideon Vink, is described by FESPACO as "a patchwork of woven patterns paying tribute to the cultural riches of the continent. It features the face of a woman named "I am Africa," mother of humanity, drawn so as not to be fixed on any particular face, embodying the diversity of the continent: "I am Africa" is everyone and no one at the same time.
Each fabric tells a story, each pattern transports us to a specific region: Malian Bogolan, Ghanaian Kenté, Faso Danfani, Burkinabe Koko Dunda, or earrings with Masai or Zulu motifs, all bear witness to the vitality and diversity of our cultures. Each African fabric, each pattern, each color carries with it a deep symbolism linked to the history of its people. "
In addition to the FESPACO poster, several other new features were announced:
The "Thomas Sankara Prize for Pan-Africanism" will be funded by the Burkinabe government, and there will also be an "Audience Award" offered by Radiotélévision du Burkina Faso. Critics'
Week and a permanent exhibition on the ideas of inspiring figures in African cinema are also among the new features for 2025.
Finally, Chad will be the guest of honor at Fespaco 2025.
