Facebook celebrates Africa's significant cultural impact on the world through the "Made by Africa, Loved by the World" campaign.

To mark Africa Day on May 25, Facebook is announcing the launch of its global campaign entitled "Made by Africa, Loved by the World," a series of short films revealing the stories of nine remarkable creators and entrepreneurs from the continent who are making their mark around the world.

Available on a dedicated microsite, "Made by Africa, Loved by the World," and on the official Facebook Africa page starting May 21, 2021, the films provide a glimpse into the global successes of African creators and companies from Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Gabon. Among them are South African fashion designer Laduma Ngxokolo and his brand Maxhosa, whose designs were recently featured in the movie "Coming to America 2." Also featured is Ivorian designer Lafalaise Dion, whose jewelry has been worn by global celebrities such as Beyoncé, Sauti Sol, an Afro-pop music group from Kenya that has gained international recognition with nominations and performances in Europe and the United States, and Mark Angel, a Nigerian comedian who has amassed over 15 million fans on Facebook. The series aims to showcase, highlight, and honor personalities who are making an impact on Africa and the world through their music, art, and craftsmanship.

Nunu Ntshingila, Regional Director of Facebook, Africa, said: "At Facebook, we are deeply invested in the creative industry in Africa, and nowhere else is it more exciting to see this vibrant scene than on the continent. These individuals and companies are changing the way Africa is perceived, not only in Africa but around the world, and cementing its position as a leader in innovation and creative industries. We know that Africa is the future, and in honor of "Africa Day" and the African Union's celebration of African "Arts, Culture, and Heritage" in 2021, "Made by Africa, Loved by the World" is our way of recognizing some of these remarkable people who inspire the entire world."

As part of the "Made by Africa, Loved by the World" campaign, Facebook will create profile frames dedicated to "Africa Day," accessible to Facebook users, and will host free virtual training sessions for SMEs and creators across Africa through its local training partners. These trainings, which aim to provide other creators and entrepreneurs with the digital skills they need to launch their ideas globally, will focus on creativity and Instagram, including how to engage your audience on Instagram, the Reels school, interactivity in stories, and how to come up with original ads.
