Launched by RFI Planète Radio and the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), this competition invites participants to collect, in a short video, the testimonies of those who face the impacts of climate and environmental change on a daily basis. ePOP is now a community of around 700 filmmakers committed to a sustainable future and 100,000 followers on social media.

Sponsored by Grand Corps Malade, the 2023 edition received more than 283 films from 36 countries. Each award had its own jury, bringing together figures from the worlds of scientific research, media, and culture, all committed to future generations.

The 2023 Competition is supported by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs as part of the FSPI ePOP sustainable cities and FSPI Terra Africa projects, as well as by AFD and Expertise France as part of the Varuna Sciences de la Durabilité project.

Launched in 2017 by RFI Planète Radio and IRD, the ePOP network brings together young volunteers from around the world to address climate and environmental issues. These young people produce short videos that convey the feelings and questions of their fellow citizens, particularly older generations. More than 800 videos have already been produced and shared on social media (Facebook and Instagram) and on the epop.network platform, where they are available for download (royalty-free license).

In order to humanize the debates and provide analysis and possible solutions to the issues raised, the ePOP project consults the scientific community, development actors, and decision-makers on the topics raised during local and international public meetings (such as the United Nations Climate Change Conferences).
