In recent years, media news in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa has been dominated by the release of new series. Audiovisual production is booming, with Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal leading the way.
In Dakar, projects are multiplying, driven by a new generation of talent, fueled by the liberalization of the landscape, boosted by the rise of digital platforms, and nourished by increasingly significant investments.
To reflect this momentum, the Senegalese capital will soon host "Dakar Séries," the first pan-African festival dedicated to series, chaired by the illustrious actor Issaka Sawadogo.
The event has been conceived and designed to highlight African series and give visibility to projects on the international scene. The event will take place from May 3 to 6, 2023.
For this first edition, a call for entries has been launched to register ambitious series projects for the Dakar Series festival competition.
