Ciné Guimbi will open its doors in October 2021.

At a press conference held on April 12, the team in charge of the Ciné Guimbi renovation project promised an inauguration for next October. This announcement follows successive postponements of the Ciné Guimbi's reopening date due to delays in the work and several administrative slowdowns. The project should therefore finally see the light of day in October, during which time FESPACO is also scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso, itself postponed due to the health crisis. Ciné Guimbi is a project to renovate a mini-plex in the cultural city of Bobo-Dioulasso, designed around two movie theaters (174 seats and 324 seats) and a cultural hub hosting activities related to film education and training in the film industry. Thanks to a partnership agreement, FESPACO has been supporting the Ciné Guimbi renovation project since 2013, thereby giving the project high visibility. Ciné Guimbi, which is currently under construction, had been designated as the host of FESPACO 2019 and as the venue for screening films related to the festival.
