The CANAL+ Group is delighted to announce the launch of its first daily series under the CANAL+ORIGINAL label in French-speaking Africa: LE FUTUR EST À NOUS (The Future Belongs to Us).
Starting September 5, CANAL+ subscribers will be able to watch this new series, aimed at family audiences, Monday through Friday in prime time at 6:45 p.m. on CANAL+POP (channel available from the first access level).
Selected for the official French-language foreign competition at the upcoming Festival de la Fiction de la Rochelle, LE FUTUR EST À NOUS brought together a pan-African team of more than 50 talented individuals who took on a production, writing, and directing challenge never before seen on the continent.
Co-produced by CANAL+INTERNATIONAL, the production is by ON EST ENSEMBLE PRODUCTIONS, responsible for the success of the series MAMI WATA, LA LEGENDE D'IVEZA, and the entertainment show 4 MARIAGES POUR UNE LUNE DE MIEL, broadcast on CANAL+ in Africa.
The series creator is none other than Olivier Szulzynger, one of France's most renowned writers of successful daily soap operas, such as PLUS BELLE LA VIE and UN SI GRAND SOLEIL. Szulzynger helped train and mentor a unique team of screenwriters from across Africa.
After three years of writing, the 60 26-minute episodes are being directed by six renowned or up-and-coming directors: Samantha Biffot, Franck Vlehi, Olivier Koné, Boris Oué, Andy Melo, and Françoise Ellong.
A true family saga with its mysteries and secrets, LE FUTUR EST À NOUS follows the daily lives and adventures of several families in a neighborhood of Abidjan, through 15 strong, diverse characters from different generations.
They are played by talented actors from Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Cameroon.
The cast includes renowned actors known to the general public, such as:
Mahoula Kane (INVISIBLES, CACAO, LES TROIS LASCARS), Halima Gadji (MAITRESSE D’UN HOMME MARIE), Serge Abessolo (CACAO, EKI) and Ali Cissé (INVISIBLES).
Captivating, moving, and funny, LE FUTUR EST À NOUS also reflects African society, addressing themes that are important to everyone.
Fabrice Faux, Director of Channels and Content at CANAL+INTERNATIONAL, says: "The launch of Africa's first daily soap opera, LE FUTUR EST À NOUS, is a source of great pride for CANAL+! Bringing together so many screenwriters, directors, actors, and technicians who represent the "future" of the African audiovisual landscape reinforces our vision of a creative, innovative Africa that is destined to play a leading role in the global audiovisual industry. I would like to warmly thank all the talented people involved in this series for their magnificent work and for everything they are going to bring to life for our viewers! Because I am sure that we have not finished talking about THE FUTURE IS OURS!
Samantha Biffot and Pierre-Adrien Ceccaldi, ON EST ENSEMBLE PRODUCTIONS, continue
: "We are very proud to finally present the series to the public after more than three years of work, discussion, and effort with all of our teams. We were committed to creating a series that belongs to everyone, both those who brought it to life (writers, technicians, directors) and those who will watch it and, we hope, embrace its stories and characters. Thanks to its incredible pan-African cast, LE FUTUR EST A NOUS should bring together and retain a large audience from Dakar to Kinshasa, via Libreville. And we are already looking forward to developing the next 120 episodes so that this extraordinary adventure can continue…
