CANAL+ featured in the official FESPACO 2021 awards

The 27th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (Fespaco), which rewards the best African films, series, and documentaries, announced its official winners on Saturday, October 23.

CANAL+ is delighted with these prestigious awards for film productions and co-productions, series and documentaries, and would like to extend its congratulations in particular to the productions that received funding and support from the CANAL+ Group:

  • Une Histoire d'amour et de désir (A Story of Love and Desire) by Leyla Bouzid (Tunisia), Yennega Bronze Award, worth 5 million CFA francs, in the "Feature Film Fiction" category

In addition, special prizes were awarded to the following series and feature films:

  • Mami Wata, le mystère d'Iveza, a CANAL+ ORIGINAL series created by Gabonese director Samantha Biffot, 2nd prize in the Series category;
  • Les Trois Lascars, by Burkinabe director Boubacar Diallo, ECOWAS Special Prize for Integration for the best West African film, worth 15 million CFA francs;
  • Le Père de Nafi (Baamum Nafi), by Senegalese director Mamadou Dia, UEMOA Special Prize for Feature Film, worth 10 million CFA francs;
  • Lingui, by Chadian director Mahamat Saleh Haroun, Special Prize from the National Assembly of Burkina Faso, worth 5 million CFA francs.

Finally, CANAL+ would also like to warmly congratulate the winners in the "Best Artistic Collaboration" category:

  • Alassane Sy, winner of the Best Actor Award for his performance in Le Père de Nafi (Baamum Nafi);
  • Samuel Teisseire, Best Set Design Award for the film La Nuit des rois (Twelfth Night) by director Philippe Lacôte (Ivory Coast).
