Canal+ deploys Enensys' OneBeam solution in Africa

Enensys Technologies, a provider of media distribution solutions, has delivered a complete upgrade of Canal+ International's EasyTV service in Africa. Technically, the operation consists of migrating the existing DVB-T2 network in Africa from standard DVB-T2/T2MI broadcasting on the C-band to OneBeam DVB-SIS broadcasting on the Ku-band.
This migration enables Canal+ International to generate significant OPEX satellite capacity savings by merging DTT distribution with its existing DTH distribution.
The first phase began in Guinea-Conakry before being extended to major cities in several equatorial African countries (DRC, Congo, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon).
The system was supplied by Aucom, the sub-Saharan systems integrator and commercial partner of Enensys, after extensive testing by Canal+ International teams.
Cédric Vialle, VP Broadcast & Set-top Box Solution at Canal+ International, said: "We are delighted to be using Enensys' OneBeam solution, which has enabled us to efficiently adapt our DTH distribution to DVB-T2 transport to our DTT transmitters. We were also looking for an integrated monitoring solution that would help us maintain and operate all our broadcast transmissions, and we are pleased that the EdgeProbe solution meets this requirement."
