CANAL BOX in Africa: A discreet but effective game-changer

When presenting its 2024 results, the CANAL+ group announced that CANAL BOX had seen its number of subscribers in French-speaking Africa jump by nearly 50% in one year and was presented as a pillar of its development strategy in Africa.

It should be noted that CANAL BOX is the brand name for the ultra-high-speed fiber optic internet service launched several years ago by Vivendi Africa Group (GVA). It made its debut on the African continent in 2017 in Libreville, Gabon, in a commercial partnership with CANAL+ Group. Following the split of the Vivendi Group, GVA was integrated into the CANAL+ Group.

Since its launch, CANAL BOX has expanded rapidly across Africa and is now available in 8 African countries and 13 cities: Gabon, Congo, Ivory Coast, Togo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Uganda.

CANAL BOX benefits from the expertise and established presence of the CANAL+ Group in Africa. This synergy allows CANAL BOX to draw on the CANAL+ Group's extensive commercial network of stores and partners in Africa. It offers very high-speed Internet services to individuals and businesses at prices ranging from 15,000 CFA francs for the starter package (50 MB unlimited in TOGO and BURKINA FASO) to 45,000 CFA francs per month for the premium package (200 MB unlimited) in GABON.

CANAL+ has expressed its ambition to connect all of Africa to broadband. CANAL BOX will therefore continue to expand into new African markets as opportunities arise and will help accelerate the continent's digital transformation.
