With less than 100 days to go before the kickoff of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, the official draw took place on October 12 in Abidjan. This draw was eagerly awaited by soccer fans, as it determines the groups for the final phase of the major sporting competition, which will take place this year in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from January 13 to February 11.
The occasion was also chosen to exclusively broadcast the official anthem of the competition. Named "Akwaba," the anthem for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was composed by Dany Synthé and performed by Magic System, Yemi Alade, and Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan.
As a reminder, Senegal, the defending champion, will face Cameroon, Guinea, and Gambia in Group C, which was dubbed "the group of death" during the draw. The Ivory Coast team will face Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
