Benin officially launches digital terrestrial television

On Friday, February 17, 2022, Aurelie ADAM SOULE ZOUMAROU, Minister of Digital Technology and Digitalization, officially launched Digital Terrestrial Television in Benin.

This launch marks the end of technical developments and, for viewers, the beginning of a new way of watching free television (more channels, better image quality, etc.).

However, households will have to finance the purchase of a decoder and the installation of an antenna.

The elimination of analog broadcasting, which according to our information will continue to exist for some time, will mark the definitive transition to DTT.

The channel package consists exclusively of free television channels: five public service channels, eight private channels, three international television channels, and four public service FM radio channels.

In 2019, the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the transition to DTT in Benin, Darius Quenum, a

nswered our questions and listed the channels that had been selected at that time. Compared to what was decided in 2019, there are three changes: the arrival of Hémicycle TV and A+ BENIN and the disappearance of Style, the lifestyle channel of the TV5 Monde group.
