After officially launching Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) on February 17, 2023, Benin announced that it would permanently switch off its analog terrestrial television signal by August 15, 2024.
As a reminder, DTT was launched nationwide, with 16 channels including five public channels, eight private channels, and three foreign channels. One year later, the Beninese government completed the full switchover to digital terrestrial television.
The channels in the local DTT package are accessible via a kit costing 18,000 CFA francs, but the government has also announced the introduction of accompanying measures to facilitate access. It has therefore been decided to increase the subsidies dedicated to DTT for a kit, which now costs 5,000 CFA francs, just over $8.
