The latest Africascope audience survey shows that 67% of Africans aged 15 to 24 watched TV5MONDE during the past month, confirming the strong impact of this French-language media outlet on the younger generation.
An engaged audience
In this new survey conducted by Kantar*, TV5MONDE once again stands out for the youthfulness of its audience. On the African continent, more than two-thirds of 15-24 year olds say they have watched TV5MONDE in the last 30 days, with an average daily viewing time per viewer of 58 minutes.
This new generation of viewers is highly engaged: 42% say they watch
TV5MONDE "several times a day" and 40% say they "comment online" on its
programs.
She primarily watches series (59%), movies (58%), and children's programs.
(51%), but is also interested in French-language culture (43% watched La Grande
Galerie Francophone), economics, and current events (57% watched Le Journal Afrique).
Information service appreciated for its quality
In an environment increasingly affected by disinformation campaigns, 65% of 15-24 year olds who watch TV5MONDE praise its "reliable and high-quality" news coverage.
38% say that TV5MONDE is "the news channel [they] watch most." Another 38% have viewed content on C'CARRÉ, TV5MONDE's new social media platform dedicated entirely to young people.
While TV5MONDE is primarily known for its audiovisual content, nearly one in two young Africans (46%) aged 15 to 24 also say they are interested in its French language learning service, TV5MONDE EDU.
High overall audience level
In this regard, TV5MONDE also maintains a very high overall audience in Africa, with nearly two out of three people aged 15 and over saying they watch this media outlet every month.
A study dedicated to the program Les Nouveaux Boss will be published shortly, as this program was broadcast after the audience measurement conducted by Kantar.
