After Japan was honored in 2019, the African continent and its animation production will be highlighted at the 2020 Annecy International Animation Film Festival through screenings, meetings, conferences, and debates. At the same time, the Institut français will organize the Africa 2020 season to illustrate the renewed partnership between France and the continent. Like the Ivorian Afrika Toon and Piktoon, based in Dakar, African studios are increasingly making their mark on the animation market by telling the story of Africa to young and old alike.
According to Véronique Encrenaz, head of Mifa: "The presence of African studios and artists is growing stronger at Mifa. We would like to showcase it further by creating a special pavilion, as well as a series of meetings and project presentations
."
See you in Annecy in June 2020
