Achraf HAKIMI wins the Marc-Vivien Foé Award RFI – France 24

(Press release)

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Achraf Hakimi, 26, has won the Marc-Vivien Foé RFI – FRANCE 24 Award for the best African player in France's Ligue 1 during the 2024-2025 season. Nominated four times, he came second in the last edition. He finished ahead of Ivorian striker Evann Nguessand (OGC Nice) and Senegalese midfielder Habib Diarra (RC Strasbourg) in the rankings.

He was selected by a jury of nearly 100 French and African football experts (journalists, consultants, former players, etc.) from a list of 12 players previously drawn up by the sports departments of RFI and France 24. Achraf Hakimi, who joined PSG in 2021, is probably enjoying his best season yet with the French capital club. A defender with considerable offensive contributions, he played a major role in winning a new French championship title for a club that remained undefeated for the first 30 games.

His fourth nomination for the Marc-Vivien Foé Award was the charm. After coming in second last year, he won everyone over by brilliantly succeeding Gabonese player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Achraf Hakimi received his award on Sunday, May 11, during the UNFP 2025 Awards ceremony.
