CAN 2025: Digital success for France Médias Monde channels

(Press release)

Driven by strong mobilization on the ground by the teams at RFI, France 24, MCD, and ZOA, and exceptional measures deployed, particularly in terms of video content on social media, France Médias Monde achieved record digital audiences during the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Morocco, which took place from December 21 to January 18. The group's media outlets brought together football fans with their dedicated content, which totaled:

> Nearly 220 million video views on social media, with particularly strong performance on TikTok (nearly 80 million views),

> 6.2 million visits to proprietary websites and apps (+16% vs. previous CAN), including nearly 450,000 on the day of the final alone (+31%).

Record performances for CAN videos produced by FMM teams

France 24 has recorded nearly 140 million video views on social media. On TikTok, France 24's French-language community grew by 48% over the period, surpassing one million followers, while one of its videos achieved a record high for the channel with over 13 million views.

RFI recorded 65 million video views during the period, with CAN content accounting for 40% of the digital audience on the day of the final. As the official broadcaster of the competition, RFI also attracted large audiences to its radio stations through its special programs and broadcasts of the matches in Africa.

MCD has recorded over 11 million video views across all of its social media channels.

The ZOA editorial team, launched in Dakar last October, has racked up 2.8 million views, confirming its rapid success among young people in Africa.
