Ivory Coast: launch of the French-language version of the MTV Shuga series

The Staying Alive Foundation, part of the American channel MTV, is launching the first French-language version of the series "MTV Shuga."

This African television series was released in 2009 and filmed in the cities of Nairobi and Lagos. Beyond the storylines, MTV Shuga aims to raise awareness among African youth on topics such as drugs and sexuality.

MTV Staying Alive is an international initiative launched by MTV, an American music channel owned by the Viacom group, which aims to encourage HIV prevention through the creation of audiovisual content and the organization of events.

Paola Audrey, a Cameroonian consultant and editor of the Africa Digest newsletter, has been appointed Head of Marketing and Partnerships for the foundation in charge of the project. The Shuga series will be produced by the Senegalese company Keewu.
