FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura recently sent a letter to the presidents of the 54 African federations regarding the centralization of broadcasting rights for the qualifiers for the next two FIFA World Cups.
In June 2019, Fatma Samoura was appointed, in addition to her existing duties, as FIFA's general delegate for Africa, responsible for evaluating the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which is independent of FIFA.
Her first decision, expressed in writing on August 13, was to ask the 54 African federations to delegate to FIFA the broadcasting rights for the qualifiers for the next two World Cups in 2022 and 2026.
The 54 African federations had until August 21 to make their decision.
