AFRIMARKET, CDISCOUNT, YATOO.CI, and Jumia in Cameroon have all chosen to suspend their activities… These successive closures have cast a chill over the entire e-commerce market in the sub-region.
However, many other players in the sector are finding prosperity in the informal market, particularly classified ad platforms, which connect sellers and buyers directly.
The latest to enter the Cameroonian market is AFRIBOBO. Recently launched in Cameroon, Afribobo is a new classified ad platform created to support the growth of local SMEs. 100% free, the platform offers services such as sales and rentals, as well as employment for the unemployed, providing entrepreneurs with visibility on a national and international market.
AFRIMALIN (KERAWA and LEPORTAIL.CI), COINAFRIQUE, TOOVENDI… classified ad platforms are real gateways to the digital world for sellers and buyers, and many players are betting on this model to start penetrating the e-commerce market.
Despite the closure of the market leader JUMIA, e-commerce players in Cameroon do not seem to have bowed out just yet… Some are managing to come out on top and adapt to the realities of the situation in order to survive in a market that is about to take off…
