Widely followed in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in French-speaking Africa where RFI and France 24 are listened to and watched by more than one in two inhabitants every week, the two media outlets of the France Médias Monde group are committed to providing their African listeners, viewers, and internet users with daily updates on the global health crisis and the state of the pandemic on the continent. Numerous dedicated magazines and columns, reports by correspondents in Africa, interviews conducted by telephone or videoconference with leading African and international figures on the situation…
The program schedules and digital offerings, refocused on information and interactivity, put Africa at the heart of priorities in all languages targeting the African continent: in French and English (RFI and France 24), in Hausa, Kiswahili, Mandinka, Fulani, and Portuguese (RFI). In March, with 24.3 million visits, the digital environments of the two media outlets doubled their traffic from the continent.
In addition, advertising space on both media outlets is primarily offered to health organizations that deliver prevention messages to Africa, and numerous initiatives carried out in conjunction with RFI Clubs and the network of partner radio stations are contributing to the fight against the pandemic. RFI and France 24, which are also committed to ensuring educational continuity during lockdown, are designing tools specifically tailored to young Africans and their parents.
