The fifth edition of the SOTIGUI AWARDS, of which the CANAL+ group is an official partner, recognizes the best actors and actresses in West Africa and the diaspora. The official winners were announced on November 14, with CANAL+ original productions well represented:
The Sotigui for Best African Male Performance in a TV Series went to Serge ABESSOLO for his role in CACAO, a CANAL+ ORIGINAL series directed and produced by Alex Ogou and Tanka Studio. The actor also received the 2020 Sotigui African Audience Award.
The awards for Best African Actress in a TV Series and Best African Newcomer in a TV Series went to Halima Gadji Ndeye and Binta Leye, stars of the hit Senegalese series "Maîtresse d'un homme marié" (Mistress of a Married Man) produced by Marodi TV.
Two Ivorian actors also won awards at the 2020 Sotigui Awards:
- Mahoula Kane was named Best Actor in West Africa for his role in the series Invisibles and Cacao, both produced by CANAL+ Original.
Finally, Ange Eric N'Guessan, member of the cast of Cacao
, Les coups de la vie,
and Teenager.
