Bnews1 is a new African news channel launched on January 15 in Cameroon. Created and directed by journalist Ernest OBAMA, former CEO and star presenter of Vision 4, Bnews1, whose B refers to the Bantu people, aims to be unifying and emphasizes its professionalism.
The channel's ranks include many former Vision 4 journalists: Ambroise Owono, Albertine Bitjaga, Visley Magloire Oyé, and Cebrik Akono are all part of the new Bnews 1 team.
According to Ernest Obama, the channel should quickly establish itself in other African capitals (Abidjan, Libreville, Bangui, etc. initially) and branch out into music, sports, culture, and other areas.
Bnews1 can be found on channel 395 of CANAL+ packages, on channel 11 of Créolink, on Digitel Douala and Yaoundé, and live on social media (the Bnews 1 Facebook page already has more than 32,000 followers).
Despite the weakness of the advertising market in French-speaking Africa and the high fixed costs (journalists, production studios, technicians, cameramen, etc.), which make the viability of news channels uncertain, this sector continues to attract a great deal of interest thanks to its influence and is regularly enriched by new initiatives.
