Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are becoming increasingly popular among internet users on the African continent. Twitter is not far behind. With an increasingly connected population, Africa is full of promise for the company led by Jack Dorsey, who himself expressed his interest in the continent during a road trip organized in 2019.
It's now official: Twitter has announced the upcoming launch of its activities on the African continent, with Ghana serving as its bridgehead. The digital giant is expected to soon assemble a team of eleven people on the ground, in line with its growth strategy.
"We need to immerse ourselves more in the rich and dynamic communities that set the tone for everyday discussions across the African continent," Twitter said in an official statement.
The appointed team will initially work remotely until an office is opened on the ground.
