AFRICASCOPE 2020/2021: For the first time, WhatsApp surpasses Facebook

According to the latest AFRICASCOPE 2020/2021 results published today, the number of people with a WhatsApp account (68%) exceeds the number of people with a Facebook account (64%) for the first time, both on average across the eight countries covered by the study and in each of these countries individually.

Unsurprisingly, Senegal has the highest number of WhatsApp subscribers (80%), closely followed by Mali (77%).
