A look back at the 2021 ATDA Awards

The curtain falls on the African Digital Transformation Summit.

Co-organized in Morocco by CIO MAG, this 10th edition of the ATDA brought together all African digital players around the theme of "deploying a resilient, sovereign, and sustainable infrastructure to encourage African innovation."

More than 300 participants attended the two-day conference, which featured several plenary and keynote sessions, including:

  • Digital levers for inclusive and sustainable development
  • The African cloud – current status and vision for the future
  • Infrastructure and digital sovereignty—how to meet the challenge?
  • The development of sovereign innovation: what about a sovereign cloud and cybersecurity?
  • Comparative perspectives on national digital strategies in Africa…

One of the key lessons learned from such an event is that data protection must accompany digital development and not slow it down. This protection will enable Africa to protect its data and maintain its sovereignty. The participants reiterated the importance of ICT in sustainable development, particularly through the democratization of access to the internet and telecommunications services in the least developed countries and the most remote areas.

Finally, the participants demonstrated the importance of SMEs in digital development. To support them, it is crucial to create synergies between these structures and the digital giants in order to create an ecosystem conducive to the rise of tomorrow's digital leaders.
