The proliferation of fake news, propaganda, and misinformation has greatly contributed to weakening journalism and access to quality information on the continent, as in the rest of the world.
It is necessary, even crucial, to encourage the development of quality journalism, particularly through the development of local skills.
With this in mind, Benin's audiovisual regulator, HAAC, has launched a local training program for around ten journalists in partnership with RFI and France 24.
Since October 3, the selected Beninese journalists have been undergoing training aimed at improving their skills in information monitoring, writing, and social media management. The goal is to help improve the regulation of the local media landscape, which in recent years has had to contend with the emergence of a multitude of new online media outlets.
