New World markets free-to-air rights for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for sub-Saharan Africa

The entire population of French-speaking sub-Saharan African countries will be able to watch the World Cup free of charge starting November 20.

With five weeks to go before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, New World TV has announced that it has signed contracts with 42 television channels covering all African countries for which it has acquired free-to-air rights.
A training session on technical and editing issues was held in Lomé a few days ago for representatives from these 42 countries.

New World TV, which shares pay TV rights in sub-Saharan Africa with Super Sport International (French-speaking Africa for New World TV and English- and Portuguese-speaking Africa for Super Sport), has also acquired free-to-air rights for all of sub-Saharan Africa, with the exception of South Africa, which is marketed by Super Sport.
The other African countries in the Maghreb and East Africa (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Somalia, Sudan, Comoros, Djibouti) are covered by BeIn Sport.

The complete list of channels that will broadcast the 2022 FIFA World Cup is not yet known, but New World TV has primarily approached public channels.
At this stage, only the public television channel RTS in Senegal, the private channel NCI in Ivory Coast, the public channel GBS in Ghana, and the public channel KBC in Kenya have communicated on the subject.
While there is still time for subscribing channels to communicate with viewers, the days are now numbered for the marketing of advertising space to local sponsors and advertisers.
