Ivory Coast: TV viewership and internet usage in Abidjan in the third quarter of 2022, according to Médiamétrie

Médiamétrie has just published the results for the third quarter of 2022 of its regular declarative measurement, carried out in Côte d'Ivoire with Omedia from July 2 to 17, 2022, August 6 to 21, 2022, and September 3 to 18, 2022.  The study provides information on the awareness, viewing habits, and audience of television channels and also includes data on residents' multimedia equipment and Internet usage.
The results are reserved for subscribers only, with the exception of the cumulative audience indicator, which varies little from month to month and peaks at around 98% regardless of the target audience, as shown in the table below. Médiamétrie also measures awareness of DTT and equipment intentions. Between July 3 and September 19, nearly 7 out of 10 Abidjan residents were aware of DTT (68.1%). Of these, 37.4% intended to purchase an adapter to receive digital television, representing 25.5% of Abidjan residents.
These figures have been steadily declining over several waves, but it should be noted that there are other ways to receive Ivorian DTT channels besides a DTT decoder, such as recent televisions, access to satellite services, etc. The intention to purchase a decoder may therefore naturally decline as the proportion of the public able to receive DTT channels, regardless of the mode, increases.

Internet

57.7% of respondents said they had connected to the Internet the previous day, compared with 56.6% in the second quarter and 51.7% in the first quarter of 2022.
Social media usage remains stable, with 66.1% of individuals registered on at least one social network, compared to 66.7% in the second quarter of 2022.
Facebook remains in the lead, followed by Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Among those registered on a social network, 53.5% say they log on every day or almost every day. This figure was 48.5% in the second quarter and 46.8% in the first quarter of 2022.
