The film industry in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa needs to become more structured and professional in order to develop sustainably. To this end, numerous initiatives are launched each year on the continent to support this development. In addition to private initiatives, the public authorities in the various countries also have a role to play in structuring the film ecosystem. Benin has recently taken up these issues.
Following a cabinet meeting on November 2, the Beninese government unveiled its intention to create a committee to support the development of the film industry. This new entity will be responsible for promoting cinema in the country and beyond its borders, thereby contributing to the country's economic growth and international influence.
Renowned experts and personalities from the world of cinema will represent this new committee, which will be responsible for promoting the development of a dynamic film industry.
