Journalist Patrick Fandio, CEO of production company Hémisphère Africa, has unveiled details of a new video content offering on social media.
Called "MUNTU," this new project aims to "tell Africa's story to Africa, tell Africa's story to the world, and tell the world's story to Africa." Details will be announced shortly, but for now, the journalist has already revealed that it will be a digital platform offering a news channel featuring live coverage, in-depth reports, programs, documentaries, investigations, and video content thanks to a network of 70 correspondents.
It should be noted that the production company Hémisphère Africa has long stood out thanks to CANAL+'s "Enquête d'Afrique" magazine, a magazine featuring major reports and investigations brought back to the African continent in 2021. This is a first in the history of this flagship CANAL+ Afrique program.
In an interview with Adweknow, Patrick Fandio said: "It is time for African professionals to return to the continent to engage in the battle for content that has already begun. Africa is, or will become, a land of conquest for the giants of international production. Are we going to accept that African structures cannot be present in this audiovisual sector, which we know has an influence on representations, minds, and ultimately power? Africans must also be able to tell their story to Africa and the world."
