FESPACO winners supported by CANAL+

The 28th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), which rewards the best African films, series, and documentaries, announced its official winners on Saturday, March 4.

 

CANAL+ is delighted with these prestigious awards for film productions and co-productions, series and documentaries, and would like to extend its congratulations in particular to the productions that received funding and support from the CANAL+ Group:

  • SIRA by Apolline Traoré (Burkina Faso) Silver Stallion Award in the "Feature Film Fiction" category
  • LE MOUTON DE SADA by Pape Bouname Lopy (Senegal) Special Mention in the "Feature Film Perspectives" category
  • LE SPECTRE DE BOKO HARAM by Cyrielle Raingou (Cameroon) Paul Robeson Award in the "Feature Documentary Perspectives" category

Ten special prizes were also awarded to series, films, and documentaries co-produced by CANAL+:

  • ÔBATANGA, a CANAL+ORIGINAL series, directed by Alex Ogou (Ivory Coast) Award for Best Series in the "Official Competition, TV Series" category
  • DE PLUS EN PLUS LOIN, a CANAL+ORIGINAL series, directed by Hervé Eric Lengani and Fabien Dao (Burkina Faso) 2nd Prize in the "Official Competition, TV Series" category
  • Apolline Traoré's feature film SIRA also won four special prizes:

The Wateraid Special Prize for Climate, Water, and Sanitation in Africa

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Prize from the Council of Understanding

The ECOWAS Special Prize for Integration for Best West African Film

and the Burkina Faso Transitional Legislative Assembly Prize

 

  • The feature film XALÉ, LES BLESSURES DE L'ENFANCE by Moussa Sène Absa (Senegal)

The UEMOA Prize for Feature Film Fiction

And the ECOWAS Prize for Best Young Actress awarded to actress Nguissaly Barry

  • The documentary AL DJANAT, PARADIS ORIGINEL by Chloé Aicha Boro (Burkina Faso) which received

The Ababacar Samb Makharam Award from the city of Ouagadougou

and the UEMOA Award for Best Documentary Feature Film
